Annontation/Labels and Font Leading
Font Leading is a value (+ or -) that defines the space between stacked text. You can use it in annotation layers or regualar label text. As you can see in the background map there is simply too much text that needs to be placed. To combat this, i’m using and annotation layer created from labels in my gdb. The anno is set to multiple sizes, with 10 being the standard and 8 and 6 for smaller spaces. All stacked text has font leading set to -3 to save space and to keep the street names tight. The menu on the left is from the annotation layer attribute editor and the menu on the right is from label text editor. I can honestly say i never paid attention to it before about 2 years ago, now I use it on every project. It also helps greatly with large text..
