Londres et Ses Environs, Les Guides Bleus 1920, a set on Flickr.
‘Londres et Ses Environs’, Les Guides Bleus, published by Hachette (Paris) and Muirhead Ltd/Macmillan & Co (London), 1920.
Price 30 francs (I bought this in Lisbon in 2010 for 4 euro. Seeing as in the 2002 currency changeover, 30fr = approx 4.50 euro, then accounting for 90 years of inflation, this was quite the bargain!). It’s in pretty good nick (especially the fragile fold out maps, printed on very thin paper) and seems to have been never - or only very carefully - used. Hardcover, 115 x 160mm, 440pp, 2 colour text, full colour maps. 32 maps and plans. Text in French, most maps and plans in English. Inside front cover: Map of Greater London, 400 x 300mm. Inside back cover: ‘Appendice: Plan de Londres’, with:
Tube and Tramway map (430 x 330mm)
4 medium scale, long fold out maps (720 x 155mm) colour-coded and indexed as J (jaune=yellow), R (rouge=red), B (brun=brown) and G (gris=grey)
4 large scale fold out maps (230 x 155mm) of I: Westminster & Piccadilly; II: Regent St, Oxford St & Marylebone; III: Strand, Holborn & Bloomsbury; IV: The City
